5 flaws that you need to get rid of in order to become a good leader!

Good leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. 1.Indecisiveness can be due to over-analysis; curb it

While you are managing a whole lot of people and directing them towards their intended goals (company’s goal), you are often faced with situation where tough calls need to be made. Practically, it is not possible to please everyone with your decisions, but making well-thought timely decisions is an important part of the leader’s job.

Weigh the pros and cons of every situation carefully and think how the opportunity can be exploited for your company’s good. Get over your indecisiveness; for you are the one every other employee looks up to in times of need and guidance.

2.Rigid mind blocks stop you from considering new ideas; overcome it

Do you repeatedly apply your same approaches in diverse scenarios? If yes, maybe this is your time to ease out on all the old ways a little bit. One possible reason for sticking to conventional approaches could be your fear for changes or might be your lack of faith in yourself. Breaking mental patterns would bring diversity in your thoughts, hence flexibility followed by varied experience.

Always be open to ideas; you have no idea what new or cliché suggestion may be turn out in a great business pitch just by molding it a bit. Let others speak out their mind and embrace the unexpected. It will help you develop a better perspective towards seeing situations and coping with them.

3.Poor communication is the root of all evil; cease it

In business houses this is a common scene; far too many bosses communicate far too little. Partly it is due to the busy work schedules, and partly due to negligence on the part of the bosses. If you trade on this practice of not connecting and communicating often with your teammates, you may lose the confidence of your team members.

Don’t be that guy. Communicate professionally, and if need be, personally with your team members in order to bring out the best in them.

4.Making empty promises are never a good idea; check it

You must have heard of the popular saying “don’t make promises you don’t intend to keep”. Since you are the one who exercises a complete command on your team, you cannot lead people onto something that can’t be accomplished or cannot be fulfilled.

Neither can you make vague promises to the clients that the employees might fail to work on in a given time span. This affects your credibility and will only anger the employees as well as the clients too.

5.Taking sides won’t help you in the long run; stop it

It is never a bad idea to have a favourite guy or a favourite colleague; if you work with someone there are chances that you may develop a fondness for a person and a bit of resentment towards others. But favouring your favourites and displaying hostility towards others do not send out a positive message to the team members who look up to you as an ideal guide or mentor.

Irrespective of your choices, learn to appreciate the hard work every other member put in to get a work done; respect others and the people will reciprocate you the same.
The difference between leading and following is that while others flow with the current, leaders create new current; while others think what is probable, leaders work for making it possible: while others think of the immediate goals, leaders with their foresightedness think of the long-term benefits keeping in mind the short-term goals.
